asked questions
(FAQ) What are these De-Vice' plug-in thingies and what do I need to use them? Plug-ins in general are small programs which operate inside of a host program. In this case one of Creamware's Scope Fusion Platform systems. You can see the range of their products here http://www.cwaudio.de Sound is run through the plug-in allowing you to do all sorts of funky things to your music that would normally not be possible with the standard host program. You will need at least one of their S.H.A.R.C based DSP cards which have their own digital signal processors which handle all of the calculations which effect the audio passing through them therefore taking the strain and work load off the computer in which the card is installed. Why do I need more plug-ins when so many already come with the Creamware system? Why do you need more CDs when you already have so much music?...Why do painters have so many different paint colours and brushes? Every plug-in has it's very own character which allows you to create new sounds and inspires you to work in different ways. Most of the plug-ins available from De-Vice' do not exist on any other system.(Speakulator, filLtheR, Infini-Looper, Buss-Booster) The personality of the designer comes through in the plug-in and provides you with a new palette of sounds from which to work. What do I get when I purchase De-Vice' plug-ins? When De-Vice' receives an order, we contact you and give you a download password and unlock code for your new plug-in(s) which you can use immediately. So, you'll generally be using your new plug-ins the same day you placed the order. The package you will get will allow you to download and install the plug-in as many times as you need on MAC and PC systems without having to purchase additional packages for each system. Updates for the individual plug-ins are free to registered users. We will contact you when a new version is available and latest versions will announced on the relevant page at De-Vice' the moment it is available. Where is De-Vice' located? De-Vice' is based in Berlin, Germany due to the great music and software development and connections but was started in Melbourne, Australia at the end of 1998 when Simon upgraded his multiple Pulsar system in his home based recording studio with a Scope card therefore launching himself into the sleepless world of Plug-in design. How big are the plug-in packages to download? The downloads are as zipped packages and range in size from around 2MB to about 35MB. We recommend a 'resuming downloader' which allows you to start the download process on one day and continue it on another without having to start the entire process all over again if you are accidentally disconnected or have to go out. 'Getright' and 'Gozilla' are two to look at. How many people work at De-Vice'? A bunch...Simon Ayton is the founder and director of De-Vice' and works on everything from developing the ideas for new plug-ins, researching the processing techniques required, designing the circuit/signal flow, creating all of the custom graphics used to make the knobs, switches and surfaces right through to putting the whole thing together to make it all work. Simon also creates the Acrobat PDF manuals for the entire line and looks after the web site and orders.(Phew!). The manuals are checked and edited
by someone else... Lastly the largest contributing member
of our staff is NOT insignificantly...you! With your feedback,
ideas and of course financial support you help the whole thing
roll-on. How do I buy De-Vice' plug-ins and how safe is the ordering process?
